Vita Sino blog – First post!
Welcome to our blog!
Hi! My name is Daniel and I am in charge of customer service and IT works at Vita Sino and I will be the one mainly posting in this blog. Here I will tell you about our daily work, whats going on in China at the moment, useful information about the wholesale markets and much more.
I am just back from Foshan where I went together with Leemay last week to help a pair of lovely ladies from a Canadian company with purchasing wholesale furniture. The weather during this time of year in China is pretty hot with temperatures reaching upwards 35 C◦ (95 F◦) , but luckily pretty much all wholesale markets have air conditioners. It was a very successful trip and we managed to help our customers find all the types of furniture that they were looking for.
The 9th of this week is the first day of the three day 端午节, or as its called
in English: the dragon boat festival. The dates of most traditional holidays in China is according to the lunar calendar and not the Gregorian (western) calendar, so it falls upon different dates every year which makes them a little bit troublesome to keep track of. The dragon boat festival is a 3 day public holiday so a lot people will not work between the 9th – 11th.
During the dragon boat festival there are competitions in racing dragon boats. Here in Guangzhou there will be competitions held at the pearl river. Besides from watching dragon boat races most Chinese people celebrates this holiday by eating “zongzi” (粽子). Zongzi is a traditional Chinese dim-sum that’s available during all the year, but its traditionally eaten during the dragon boat festival. Its rice baked around pork wrapped in banana leafs and steam cooked.
We have noticed a lot more emails from customers interested in sourcing fabrics lately. Guangzhou is home to one of the largest wholesale fabric markets in the world, the “Zhongda farbic market” and virtually any kind of fabric can be found here. Seeing the increased requests for fabrics we have lowered our commission when helping customers handling fabric orders from 4%-8% to 3%-7%. The exact percentage depends on how complicated the order is. For more information about our prices, click here.
